Can I Still Love Again?

He said he loved me,
and would stand by me
through thick and thin.

He said
he would watch my back.
He said he would always be there.
He told me his life
was hopeless without my love.

... ‘I’d rather die
than live without you’ he said.
But now he has left me
in the cold and turned
his back on the one he called
‘The apple of his eye’.
Can I still love again?

He called me
the sugar in his tea,
the only star in the sky.
He said I was his
‘sleeping thougths and his waking dreams’.

The only cockroach in his cupboard,
the only ship in the ocean called love.
But now he has sucked all
the sugary goodness out of me,
shattered my lofty dreams.

He has abandoned my sinking ship
to wander alone in the ocean of life
He has crushed the cocroach
with a slege harmer and dimmed
the star that brightend his night
Can I still love again?

I gave him my life, my all... my everything
I invested my entire being
on this alter called ‘love’
I gave him my yesterday.

Trusted him with my today
and believed in him for my tomorrow.
‘I will never leave you’ he said.
But all that is now gone with the wind.
He met me intact but left me broken.

Here I am stranded
in the chiily cold
of loneliness and depression.
Dont know who to trust.
Dont know who to turn to.
Can I still love again?
